Consortium Supports Project Roomkey
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, we need to remember that our mission is to help to prevent and end homelessness in the San Gabriel Valley and work to get people housed with appropriate supportive services by any possible means. The coronavirus makes that mission more important than ever. Project Roomkey is a win-win for our neighbors experiencing homelessness as well as for the hotels and motels participating. Watch as one hotel owners explains the positives for her: https://vimeo.com/410843591. Please read our letter of support for Project Roomkey (below) and consider taking one or more of the following actions:
1) Write a letter in support of Project Roomkey addressed to the staff and elected officials of your City, your County Supervisor and our Governor.
2) Educate yourself, your City and your neighbors about the facts of Project Roomkey. LA County has worked hard to address the legitimate concerns of local communities. You can find the FAQ on Project Roomkey here.
3) Virtually “attend” and “speak” at your local City Council meetings, and show your support for this project.
4) Work with the Consortium and our partners to write cards and letters of welcome to the residents moving into our local hotels (these will accompany their hygiene/welcome bags). This is a great project for your Faith Based entity, your non-profit, or your donors. If you'd like to help more and you are able, consider purchasing items from our SPA 3 CES (Union Station Homeless Services) Amazon Wish List. New or slightly used books are also welcome. Send orders and/or letters to the Union Station office at 825 E. Orange Grove Blvd. Pasadena, CA 91104.
