The facility provides hospital services for people of all ages in Los Angeles County. Services include an asthma clinic, a blood bank, a cancer unit, a cardiac lab, outpatient surgery, a pediatrics department, a pediatric intensive care unit, a birthing center, a lung center, a neonatal intensive care unit, a rehabilitation unit, a pharmacy and a physician’s referral service. The facility is a designated Level II Trauma Center. There are no geographic restrictions. In addition, the hospital provides patient counseling, discharge planning, patient services, and support services units. It is a major teaching institution for health services professionals and periodically provides professional continuing education. Neonatal intensive care services includes diagnostic and treatment services for extremely premature and critically ill newborn infants over an extended period to survive and to develop. The program also provides information, counseling, support, and a support group for the parents and other family members. The physician’s referral service provides information about individual doctors who are on staff at the hospital and includes payment acceptance information for recipients of Medi-Cal and Medicare. APPLICATION PROCEDURE People may be admitted to the hospital for all medical services through a staff physician, the hospital’s emergency room, or the Pasadena Dispensary. A TDD is available in the hospital emergency room for hearing impaired callers. For a referral to a staff physician call the designated number above. See the separate entries for additional programs of this hospital for application and program information. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE Fixed Fee Medi-Cal, Medicare, and private insurance are accepted. People who are unable to pay for their medical care may qualify for financial assistance. There is no fee for a referral to a physician or for some of the community education and support services.
