The foundation provides health services for people in Los Angeles County who have AIDS or HIV-related illness. Services include AIDS/HIV control, AIDS/HIV Clinics, AIDS/HIV prevention counseling, AIDS drug assistance programs, case/care management, clinical trials, contact tracing/partner notification, contract clinic services for primary care, HIV testing for males only, and volunteer opportunities. There are no geographic restrictions.
The program provides AIDS screening; access to clinical trials; AIDS/HIV prevention counseling; case management, mental health services; nutrition services; outpatient treatment; pharmacy services; social services and benefits counseling; speakers for community education about AIDS healthcare issues; urgent care nurse, volunteer recruitment, training, and placement; and a web site for anonymous notification services to sexual partners. Services are provided at numerous locations including outpatient health care centers and hospices.
The agency health care centers are located on the campuses of major medical centers. The AHF Healthcare Centers, provide a full range of services for people who are HIV at the asymptomatic and at the symptomatic level. Services include HIV testing for males, early intervention, treatment, counseling services, and a medical group for people who have full blown AIDS. HIV testing is done by means of an oral test, and results are available within one week.
