Profile
Our mission is to help families experiencing or at risk of homelessness achieve sustainable independence through a community based approach.
Family Promise of San Gabriel Valley (FPSGV) has played a critical role in mitigating the region’s homeless crisis, providing, advocacy, a temporary shelter program, our congregational network shelter program and housing navigation support through our Alhambra Unified School District HOPE program.
Congregational Network Shelter Program
Family Promise of San Gabriel Valley’s congregation network shelter program is an innovative and cost effective approach to addressing family homeless, our program is made up of 13 faith-based locations that house families one a week at a time. Families are sheltered at different locations week to week until they are able find permanent housing. We also provide a Day Center where families receive intensive weekly case management to assess and address their needs and connect them to wrap around services through our network of community partners. These services range from worksource development, healthcare, childcare, mental health and academic resources.
Alhambra Promise Collaboration
Alhambra Promise (AP) is a collaboration between the Alhambra Unified School District Gateway to Success, Family Promise of San Gabriel Valley (FPSGV) and Catalyst of San Gabriel Valley. As a supplement to the Gateway to Success HOPE program, and in collaboration with Gateway to Success staff, Alhambra Promise exists to provide case management and housing navigation to families within the district experiencing homelessness, particularly those that are literally homeless or at imminent risk of being homeless.
The ultimate goal of Alhambra Promise is to promote housing stability for those families within the school district that seek to end their current state of homelessness and find permanent housing as quickly as possible.
Families determined to be literally homeless are interviewed by Family Promise staff and provided case management, housing navigation through LA County’s Coordinated Entry System and Family Solutions Center, advocacy, and referrals to other appropriate services needed for the family to stabilize themselves and thrive.
Homeless Prevention Initiative
Family Promise has expanded its services to provide homeless prevention via its homeless prevention initiative working in collaboration with various community agencies to identify families that can be assisted through rental assistance or eviction assistance.
