Profile
The Community and Senior Services Division is housed at the Jack Crippen Multipurpose Senior Center, a one-stop hub for social interaction, recreation, health and wellness programming and social services. The Los Angeles County Department of Senior and Community Services has designated the City of El Monte Jack Crippen Multipurpose Senior Center as a focal point on aging for the dissemination of multi-purpose information about services available to older adults in the community. The Division’s goal is to help individuals’ age-in-place by providing valuable and caring services at the Center and in the home. The Center is open to anyone 50 years of age and older although certain activities and services have age restrictions.
Seniors can enjoy a healthy meal in a convivial setting at the El Monte Jack Crippen Multipurpose Senior Center Monday through Friday at 11:30 am. The program offers a well-balanced hot meal to individuals aged 60 and older and their spouses. Meals are prepared with no salt added and with ingredients lower in saturated fat and cholesterol. Additional considerations include using non-fat milk in puddings and creamed dishes and soups; using canola oil when oil is called for; using egg substitute in egg dishes, and canned fruit in light syrup.
Congregate Meals: Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m., meals are served on a first-come-first-served basis. The program suggested donation is $2.00 per meal.
