The Commission serves the County of Los Angeles as an affordable housing and community and economic development agency. Services include building acquisition/construction/renovation funds, business district revitalization, first time home buyer loan programs, home rehabilitation loans, low-income home loans, public housing, Section 8 rental vouchers, and subsidized housing fraud reporting. There are income and geographic restrictions for most programs; loans are restricted to residents of the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles county.
First time home buyers’ programs are also provided by the the CDC. The Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC) program offers first-time homebuyers a federal income tax credit which will reduce the amount of federal taxes to pay. The Home Ownership Program (HOP) provides down-payment assistance to low-income first-time homebuyers. The Single Family Bond Program provides loans at a below market interest rate.
