The program provides self-help groups related to compulsive overeating for people of all ages in Los Angeles. Services include twelve-step mutual support groups which are based on the 12 Steps and 12 Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous as adapted for OA; it provides information and group meetings to assist people to work toward their own recovery. There are no geographic restrictions.
The organization views compulsive overeating as a disease, supports recovering people to deal with the physical and emotional symptoms of this illness, and bases recovery on the concept of abstinence one day at a time. Members remain anonymous and what is shared in meetings is confidential.
This intergroup provides information about the dates, times, and locations of meetings at this site and in the Pomona Valley, Glendora, Covina, Hacienda Heights, Diamond Bar, Claremont, Upland, and Rancho Cucamonga areas. Printed information about OA and compulsive overeating is available at meetings. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call for recorded information about meetings at any time. People may also call or walk in during office hours to obtain further information. No prior contact is required to attend meetings. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees or dues; a basket is passed at meetings for donations to cover expenses.
